McGill’s Faculty of Engineering is committed to teaching students how to become the leaders of tomorrow. In a university ranked top 30 in global QS rankings, our graduate students are defining the path of future discovery in scientific, engineering, and design-oriented research.
The Faculty of Engineering is a global leader in a wide array of research projects, covering all aspects of Engineering, Architecture and Urban Planning. You can choose from a variety of research and professional programs (M.Sc., M.Eng., or Ph.D.) in our strategic research areas focusing on Broadband Telecommunications, Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, Aerospace, Bioengineering and Engineering, and Sustainable Design. The faculty is composed of a diverse community, with an international student body and 167 tenure stream professors with a wide range of backgrounds, in which 22% are female.
McGill University is also a space for interdisciplinary exchanges. Institutes such as the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED), the McGill Institute for Aerospace Engineering (MIAE), and McGill Institute for Advances Materials (MIAM) are notable examples among other Engineering centers and institutes of the collaborative approach between different research areas working together to innovate and tackle real-world problems.
Other resources which Graduate students can benefit from at McGill are the initiatives that focus on entrepreneurship and community engagement. The ENGINE center, for example, supports students and professors across McGill through experiential learning and training programs, project funding, business mentorship, and other resources. For students interested in pedagogy and the teaching community, the Enhancing Learning and Teaching in Engineering (ELATE) initiative is where professors and instructors can get together and share their experiences with different teaching and assessing strategies.
Located in downtown Montreal, the campus is in one of the world’s best student cities. You will benefit from its affordability and discover its multicultural makeup and inclusive ethos. Montreal’s thriving industries in Artificial Intelligence, Health Sciences, Aerospace, and Civil Engineering are perfect for those seeking to build research collaborations with industry.
